PoliTOcean is the student team of the Polytechnic University of Turin which, since 2017, has been building remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs). Behind every project there is passion, creativity, and teamwork: students from different disciplines work side by side, combining expertise in mechanics, electronics, software and firmware, hydrodynamics, control systems, materials, and communication.
Since 2017 we have been designing and developing ROVs—Remotely Operated Vehicles—testing them each year by taking part in the prestigious MATE ROV Competition in the USA. Thanks to the support of the Polytechnic University of Turin and our valued partners, we have the opportunity to experience the full ROV development process, from the early design and 3D printing stages to assembly and software development.
Since 2018
Every year we travel to the United States to compete in the MATE ROV Competition, putting months of engineering and teamwork to the test.
The aim of the MATE area is to participate in the MATE ROV competition, an annual challenge held in the United States where universities from around the world compete in tasks that replicate real-world underwater maintenance and exploration activities.
The purpose of the R&D area is to handle all work that is not directly related to the competitive part of the team, in particular the group is dealing with projects in collaboration with companies, tests and studies in the field of marine robotics, creating theses and scientific treatises, finalize secondary works of the team and innovate applied technologies in the competitive environment.
The communication and marketing division oversees the team's social media presence, ensuring consistent and engaging content, identifies potential companies for collaboration, nurtures partnerships with existing sponsors and organizes promotional activities to boost the team's visibility and impact.
